Tweenies Room

Tweenies Room

At this age (2-3 years) children are very inquisitive and eager to participate in new and exciting activities. We encourage this by providing just the right amount of learning experiences, so that our children can learn through play and discovery.

In our Tweenies room our aim is to ensure that every day is as fun packed as the last. Each child is treated as an individual and every child can take part in all activities, no matter what their capabilities are.

Our planning reflects the children’s current interests and development. Through this type of planning, we hope the children learn about many different things amongst which include:

Potty training, colours, numbers, shapes, sharing skills, social skills, learning manners, right from wrong and language development which takes them from single words to proper conversations.

The staff observe the children on a regular basis whilst they are playing and use these observations to decide how to take your child’s learning to the next stage.

Activities are based around the children’s current interests and needs. They can be anything from baking, circle time discussions, toys or a creative activity. Activities in the room are delivered through play. High level, engaging play is the main way in which children learn and is linked back to the EYFS to ensure children are learning and developing across all areas. Children’s work will be displayed around the room, to encourage them to take pride in their achievements. Please spend a few minutes, if you can spare it, admiring their handy-work.

However, not all activities have an end product to take home. Please don’t think they have not done anything all day if you do not have a picture! Children gain so much more from experimenting and tactile activities as this encourages questioning, use of senses, language and co-operation, all of which are vital skills.
